Welder

Summary

Lay out, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble various things.  This position is responsible for repairing equipment, fixtures, and structures by using various welding techniques.  Will need to possess the ability to read blueprints, follow instructions, and measure and identify materials.  This position primarily welds with steel but will occasionally perform aluminum welding.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Welding

    • Repair dumpsters, machinery, vehicles
    • Operate drill presses, power saws, grinders and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools safely
    • Analyze plans and drawings to determine work requirements
    • Estimate material and recommend what supplies need to be ordered
    • Welding spare parts in various directions
  • Machinery
    • Perform preventative and routine maintenance on equipment
    • Ability to set up machines based on the job
    • Maintain up to date knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses
    • Maintain a clean and safe work area
    • Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials
    • Complete any required paperwork
  • Safety
    • Following pre-established safety policies and guidelines
    • Wearing PPE as required while on facility grounds and conducting work-related businessFollowing company rules and federal, state and local laws
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    • Knowledge of welding techniques and safety procedures and practices while repairing dumpsters and machinery.  
    • Skills in the fabrication, joining and repairing of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structures.  
    • Will need to be trained on how to operate an overhead crane.
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent.  
    • Completion of an accredited welder’s training program preferred.  
    • Preferably a minimum of 1-year experience.
