Location: Pittsburgh, PA (all facilities)
Reports To: Director of Site Operations & Sales
Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt
Michael Brothers Companies, a family-owned leader in recycling and debris management for over 50 years, is seeking a motivated and hands-on Site Manager to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations across our Scrap Metal Recycling areas, Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), and yard locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of MRF and Scrap Metal Recycling teams, including scheduling, work assignments, training, and performance management.
- Support recycling initiatives and maintain excellent customer service, handling inquiries and complaints.
- Ensure compliance with inspections, regulations, and company policies.
- Manage maintenance of equipment, yard conditions, and facility appearance, including coordinating repairs and supply orders.
- Serve as a working manager by operating equipment, directing yard traffic, and assisting on the tipping floor as needed.
- Complete required logs, reports, and documentation.
- Stay current with industry regulations and emerging technologies.
- Foster a strong culture of safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in waste or debris management operations, including supervisory experience.
- Valid CDL Class A license, or the ability to obtain within the first six (6) months of employment (required).
- Certified forklift operator.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and work in outdoor conditions (dust, dirt, weather, odors).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, crouching, and equipment operation.
- Use of required PPE (safety boots, gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection).
