Director of Fleet Maintenance

The Director of Fleet Maintenance is responsible for the day to day operations and overall management of the company’s entire fleet, equipment, dumpsters, and maintenance staff.

Duties include:

  • Manage all aspects of vehicle and heave equipment fleet.
  • Manage equipment scheduled maintenance.
  • Manage and oversee maintenance staff (diesel techs and welders) including attendance, employee issues, recruitment/hiring/training, required paperwork, reviews, etc
  • Delegate daily tasks of staffResponsible for DOT compliance with reports, vehicle inspections and licensesMonitor maintenance department expenditures.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory; maintain vendor relationships.
  • Assist with creating a safety-first culture – support safety initiatives; be an active member of the Safety Committee; follow all OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Support emergency situations
  • Develop and implement plans for all situations including breakdowns, traffic accidents, equipment damage, failed inspections, receiving citations or fines.
  • Responsible for budgeting and having the ability to forecast equipment costs and needs.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license – CDL preferred.
  • Four (4) – Six (6) years of related experience in fleet management, operations, general managementMinimum three (3) years diesel tech experience
  • Recycling/waste industry experience a plusKnowledge of DOT and FMCSR regulations
  • Effectively manage 15-20 employees in multiple departments and locations
  • Relevant experience on Mack and CAT equipment
  • Understand fabrication and metal repairs.
  • Must have strong leadership skills with a high level of communication skills in all forms (in person, email, text, etc)
  • Must be detail oriented; understand workflows; be highly organized; able to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Financial and budgeting skills

Salary:  $65,000-$80,000
